Drawer Shelves

I've got bunches of drawers from old desks and dressers and rather than let them sit in stacks in my workroom, I pulled one out the other day and decided to create a display shelf for some of my clocks in it.  I'd made small banner with my metal letter tabs to spell, "Old Times" and I had a drawer that was just the right size to hang on the drawer.  Right now it's sitting on top of my piano mantle, but eventually I'd like to group more of these drawers together as a collection of wall shelves.

Several of my drawers have ink stains in them, so I copied this idea to turn them into chalkboards, like these:

Here's my chalkboard drawer:

A stroll through the internet yields lots more drawers that have been converted into display shelves.

I love the variety of drawers grouped together here:

These file drawers look wonderful against the pine walls.

This gorgeous old, oak file drawer makes a perfect display shelf for vintage treasures.

The front of this drawer was moved so its vintage goodness stays front and center.

I hope this gives you some inspiration for what an old drawer can become!
